OUR STORY

During my childhood I remember several of my teammates showing up to our baseball, basketball, and football games without some of the basic equipment I was lucky enough to have.  Other kids had equipment, but it was clearly used and in horrible shape.  These images stuck in my mind for years to come. Little did I know, my parents were building a mountain of debt keeping me supplied with all the newest and coolest basketball shoes, cleats, gloves, bats, etc.  This also included paying for league fees, lessons, personal training, and travel expenses. I realize now that my family was not alone in this struggle. 
 

Now as an adult with my own children, those same issues are still prevalent.  I see children without basic equipment and some using hand-me-downs that should have been retired years ago.  But even more upsetting is hearing how kids aren’t participating in sports at all because of the associated cost. 
 

I truly believe every child should have the opportunity to experience organized youth sports.  The benefits of athletics and physical activity are too numerous to count, but here are a few:  

 

• Builds and maintains healthy bones, muscles, and joints

• Develops and improves cognitive skills. Studies show high school athletes are more likely to attend college than non-athletes.

• Positively affects aspects of personal development including self-esteem, goal-setting, and leadership 
   

We are doing everything in our power to help kids get the full experience of playing sports.  We created Play by Faith to bridge the gap caused by the increasing cost of youth athletics.  We identify children/families/organizations in need, and then provide financial assistance .  We also give every child a Faith Package which includes a Bible and resources for their family in hopes of opening doors for deeper conversations about Christ.  

 

It is because of Him all this is possible!
